Al Quds, March 23, 2023
Bayt Mal Al Quds Asharif, an offshoot of Al Quds Committee that is chaired by King Mohammed VI of Morocco, announced yesterday the start of its social events program for the month of Ramadan of the Hegira year 1444.
The program, funded by the Kingdom of Morocco, kicked with the ceremony to light up the Ramadan lantern in Burj Alluqluq Social Center Society square, in the vicinity of the blessed Al Aqsa Mosque, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, the acting director of the Agency.
Echarkaoui stressed that the presence of Bayt Mal Al Quds Asharif Agency, with its staff from Morocco and from Al Quds, illustrates the field support and backing that Al Quds population and institutions deserve, noting that the Agency, honored to be supervised by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of Al Quds Committee, has no other choice but to continue to discharge its social and humanitarian missions whatever the conditions are, in order to protect Al Quds and preserve its civilization and historic legacy. “We are honored to share with you your joys and promise that we will continue to follow the instructions of the chairman of Al Quds Committee, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to back Al Quds institutions, within the means available to the Agency”, he stated, addressing the public.
On this occasion, Echarkaoui announced the start of the Agency social events in Al Quds, thanks to funds provided by the Kingdom of Morocco in cooperation with local associations.
Thousands of Al Quds inhabitants were present at the Ramadan lantern lighting-up at Burj Alluqluq to celebrate the advent of the blessed month of Ramadan with the participation of scores of Al Quds clubs, institutions, art bands, artists and volunteers who were dispatched in five tracks across the old city gates from Assahira gate, Hatta gate, Al Amoud gate, Al Asbat gate and Salaheddine avenue.
After the Tarawih prayers, a parade strolled with lanterns and candles, preceded by bands chanting songs from the legacy, scouts groups, “Al Fanakish” troupes and clowns, including Al Quds duo “Semsem Wa Zaatar”, a drama troupe much appreciated by the children holding the lanterns who came to share with their families in these celebrations.
The participants celebrated the lighting up of the 9 meter-high lantern at the Burj Alluqluq Social Center Society while singers entertained the public with religious songs.
