Rabat, August 9, 2023
A group of 90 girls and boys wrapped up their preparations to travel to Morocco to participate in the 14th summer camp, to be held from August 10 to August 26, 2023 under the aegis of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, chairman of Al Quds Committee.
HM the King, may God protect Him, chose to name this year’s summer camp “Al Massira Al Khadra” (Green March). It is organized by Bayt Mal Al Quds Asharif Agency, with support of the Moroccan ministry of youth, culture and communications. Participating children will travel to several Moroccan cities, including Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier, Asilah, Tetouan, Mdiq and Chefchaouen.
Like previous years, the Agency has designed, with its partners, a rich program featuring a large part to leisure and play activities, together with tourism and educational tours to help the kids coming from Al Quds get acquainted with the Moroccan Kingdom history and geography, authenticity and centuries-old civilization.
The children will also visit several landmark development projects in the regions of Casablanca, Rabat and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima. These projects are putting Morocco on the track of development, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him.
The summer camp will start with interactive workshops using the new technologies on the theme of “spreading the values of unity and solidarity” to complete the courses taken by the participants during the preparatory camp held in Al Quds, drawing inspiration from the values and meanings of the glorious Green March epic and from its architect, the late King Hassan II, may God have him in His mercy.
“The camp was honored by his Majesty the King when he named it “Green March”, a successful march by the late King Hassan II to liberate the Sahara land. It is a meaning holding a lofty message that Palestine and Al Quds are also the first cause of brothers in Morocco, on equal footing as the Sahara, and hold a special place in the heart of Moroccans”, said Bashar Abu Shamsya, Al Quds coordinator of the community initiatives at the Agency’s human development program.
Abu Shamsya, who is the director of this year’s summer camp, also noted that while touring Moroccan cities, the camp will present shows of the Palestinian heritage: dances and songs from the popular folklore, in addition to cultural and artistic presentations on earth and conveying a message to the world that we, in Al Quds, love joy and life.
Since Morocco is now known as a great football nation, the summer has included in its program friendlies with Moroccan teams, as well as basketball matches for girls.
The arts and sports contests are held daily in parallel to the other activities that include meetings with their Moroccan peers taking part in the same period in summer camps at the “Diplomatic forest” in Tangiers.
The children from Al Quds will perform a special song on the occasion of the youth day, as a token of consideration and recognition from the kids and their families to HM King Mohammed VI and to the Moroccan people.
The summer camp program, sponsored by Bayt Mal Al Quds Asharif Agency, is part of the social and educational activities organized by the “children club for Al Quds”, an organ of the Agency. This year, the activities also include summer schools in Al Quds for 3,000 girls and boys attending 4 schools and 9 summer camps in the city, in addition to a football tournament with the participation of 17 clubs from Al Quds.
