Children from Al Quds participating in the 14th summer camp themed “Al Massira Al Khadra” got a chance today to know more about the Moroccan explorer Ibn Battuta during their visit to Burj Annaam, a memorial where some of his books and purchases are displayed.
The young participants enjoyed the opportunity to get to know some of Ibn Battuta’s travels to Al Quds and Palestine, as well as other trips that led him to the African Sahara, the Malian empire, India and East Asia, via the Maldives where he served as judge, Andalusia, Yemen, Egypt, Tunisia, Iraq, The Levant, in addition to Mecca, Medina and so many other regions of the world.
After this visit, the youngsters from Al Quds toured several other historic places in Tangiers, as they started this educational and cultural trip that will lead them to several Moroccan northern cities, under the supervision of Bayt Mal Al Quds Asharif Agency.
While in Tangier, they also walked in the ancient Kasbah, the Riad Assultane cultural and leisure space, the Kasbah museum, the contemporary arts museum, Borj Dar Al Baroud, Foundouk Dar Eddebagh, Bab Diwana and Souk Eddakhel.
The two week-long camp, held by the Agency in partnership and cooperation with the ministry of youth, culture and communications under the aegis of His Majesty King Mohammed VI –Chairman of Al Quds Committee- opened on Friday with a ceremony held in the presence of the Agency’s director, Dr. Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui.
During the session, the participants were briefed about the thematic groups meant to spread the values of “unity and solidarity”. The information and communications team made of participants who will follow up the summer camp daily activities was set up.
The supervisors were also dispatched to assess the daily performance of participants and reward the best “clean participation”, the best “arts and sports performance”, the best “creative initiative” in short stories, drawing and photography.
The participants then expressed, each one in their own style, their consideration for this royal generous initiative that His Majesty King Mohammed VI- Chairman of Al Quds Committee- annually has for around 50 girls and boys, together with five supervisors, enabling them to travel to Morocco and tour cities, villages, historic and civilizational monuments and discover Moroccans’ life, traditions and customs.
Al Quds children also get to participate in the Kingdom of Morocco’s national celebrations by presenting selections of the Palestinian folklore, in addition to a special song on the occasion of the youth day, titled “benevolence of a kingdom”, as a token of consideration and recognition from the children of Al Quds and their families to His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the brave Moroccan people.
