The Kingdom of Morocco vigorously condemns the Israeli incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, said on Friday in Rabat, stressing that these provocations exacerbate tensions and “undermine the appeasement efforts in Gaza” and all the efforts deployed for a ceasefire, the protection of civilians and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
In response to a question about the situation in the Al-Aqsa Mosque during a press briefing held at the end of his talks with his Brazilian counterpart, Mauro Vieira, the Minister stressed that “the Kingdom of Morocco firmly condemns the authorization by the Israeli authorities of the Flag march in occupied Al-Quds, and the resulting restrictions on access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque imposed on worshippers”, noting that Morocco categorically rejects the incursion of Israeli government officials and members of the Knesset onto the Mosque’s esplanade.
His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, has repeatedly and vigorously denounced such provocations, which come at a time when the Israeli aggression in Gaza is continuing, causing numerous victims among civilians, the Minister recalled.
The Kingdom of Morocco, he said, “strongly rejects” the Israeli incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, urges the Israeli authorities to take the necessary measures to ensure that such acts do not recur, and calls on the international community, including the UN Security Council and the acting powers, to protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Muslim places of worship in the city of Al-Quds.
