Rabat, July 2, 2024
The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ) recently released the 27th issue of the “Echo from the Al-Quds Committee” periodical in both Arabic and English.
The new issue dedicated a section to the speech by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, which he delivered to the 15th Islamic Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Banjul, Gambia.
This issue, distributed to the Summit participants, also included the Al-Quds Committee’s report detailing the achievements of the BMAQ Agency, the Committee’s executive arm, in the holy city. The accomplishments exceeded $13.8 million during the period from 2019 to 2024.
The issue also includes an overview of the Arab and international reactions praising and welcoming the initiatives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and his efforts in defending Al-Quds, as well as the efforts of the Kingdom of Morocco in delivering aid to the Inhabitants of Gaza and Al-Quds.
The issue also covers the Agency’s activities and programs in various sectors, as well as its participation in the International Book and Publishing Fair in Rabat last May. Among other topics, it notably announces the second edition of the Al-Quds Sharif Awards for Excellence in Development Media, the awarding of the Medal of Courage to the head of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, a visit by an American academic and student delegation to the Agency, and the crowning of winners in the 5th edition of the “Colors of Al-Quds” competition.
The issue also includes a section on the “Digital Strategy of the BMAQ Agency (2024-2027),” which details the Agency’s approach to digitization, renewal, and innovation. This section highlights BMAQ’s various activities and initiatives that align with the implementation of this progressive strategy.
In this regard, Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, the director running the BMAQ Agency, wrote in the editorial of this issue titled ” Digitization in the Service of Social and Economic Development in Jerusalem” that BMAQ continues, despite the challenges surrounding Jerusalem, to implement its 2024 action plan. This is in accordance with the wise vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, who directs the Agency to focus on tangible projects that benefit Palestinians in Jerusalem and their institutions.
He added that in May 2024 in Casablanca, the Agency unveiled its digital strategy for 2024-2027 under the slogan “Digitization in the Service of Economic and Social Development in Jerusalem.”
He emphasized that the Agency announced, on this occasion, a package of projects outlined in this strategy with an annual budget of no less than one million US dollars. He added that this announcement signifies the culmination of the digital management digitization track and includes the receipt of the first certificate for these efforts.
Additionally, Mr. Echarkaoui highlighted in his editorial the Agency’s announcement in May of last year regarding the launch of a new package of restoration and reconstruction projects in the Old City of Jerusalem and several of its neighborhoods.
He underscored that this integrated approach, which characterizes the Agency’s operational methodology, embodies the directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to ensure the continuity of daily fieldwork for the Al-Quds Committee, alongside the political efforts undertaken by Moroccan diplomacy on multiple fronts to support the Palestinian cause, protect Jerusalem, and preserve its legal status.
