Casablanca, July 27, 2024
The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ) announced on Friday in Casablanca the delivery of the online learning platform package for Al-Azhar University in Gaza, aiming to ensure educational continuity despite the difficult circumstances in the Gaza Strip.
This initiative was announced on the occasion of the conclusion of the first cohort program of the startup incubator targeting young people from Al-Quds in the field of innovation (BMAQ Innovation HUB).
In a speech delivered on this occasion, Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, the Director in charge of running the BMAQ Agency, emphasized that this significant support for Al-Azhar University in Gaza is part of the distinguished ongoing and continuous efforts led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, President of the Al-Quds Committee, to assist the Palestinian people.
He explained: “This package will contribute to the implementation of the project aimed at developing an integrated online learning platform to enable students at Al-Azhar University in Gaza to complete their studies.”
According to Mr. Echakaoui, this support also includes the payment of university fees owed by graduates affiliated with the Hassan II Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (affiliated with Al-Azhar University in Gaza), and the contribution towards covering the financial costs for middle school students enrolled in the first semester of 2023/2024 in e-learning since June 1, 2024.
For his part, Khalil Abu Foul, President of Al-Azhar University in Gaza, a higher education institution founded in 1991 with 12 faculties, stated: “On behalf of the Palestinian people, particularly the residents of Gaza who are currently suffering from the Israeli aggression that has destroyed all aspects of life and led to numerous martyrs and injuries, I would like to express our deepest gratitude.”
He added that “Al-Azhar University in Gaza, like many institutions, has been greatly affected, and most of its buildings have been destroyed.” Mr. Abu Foul emphasized in a press statement that “in these difficult circumstances, we are grateful to the Kingdom of Morocco and to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who continue to stand by the Palestinian people.”
On this occasion, the online learning solution introduced by the BMAQ Agency encompasses the establishment of servers and the integration of student and university data. This initiative ensures the reliable and secure operation of online educational systems, thereby guaranteeing the uninterrupted continuity of the educational process.
Additionally, the ceremony featured the awarding of financial grants to emerging businesses that participated in the first cohort. It also included the announcement of the launch of the second cohort of the incubator program.
In this context, Mr. Echarkaoui stated: “We are very pleased to see the fruits of the efforts of these ambitious young Palestinians who have worked hard and with dedication throughout the program,” emphasizing that “the youth project incubator program in the field of innovation aims to support innovation and entrepreneurship in the areas of technology and digitization by enhancing the skills of young people and offering them opportunities to develop their ideas and transform them into successful projects.”
This initiative is part of the Agency’s Digital Strategy 2024-2027, launched on May 27 in Casablanca, under the slogan: “Digital Development in the Service of Economic and Social Development of Al-Quds.”
