The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ) has published a book authored by the director in charge of managing the BMAQ Agency, Mohammed Salem Echarkaoui, titled “His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee: The Sacred Trust.” This release commemorates the 25th anniversary of His Majesty the King ascending to the throne of his illustrious ancestors.
According to an introductory paper, this book, published by the “Bayt Al-Maqdis Center for Research and Studies” in 2024 and comprising 167 medium-sized pages, “consolidates valuable insights and essential information, offering a comprehensive historical account of the Al-Quds Committee’s efforts under the esteemed leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him. It details the Committee’s dedication to supporting the Palestinian cause and safeguarding the sanctity of the Holy City. These endeavors are achieved through a harmonious blend of political, diplomatic, and humanitarian initiatives.”
This work divided into seven chapters includes a documentary appendix, featuring the presence of the BMAQ Agency in His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s speeches and messages, reports from the Al-Quds Committee chaired by His Majesty to the Islamic summit conferences, and details the projects and programs implemented in Jerusalem between 2000 and 2022.
In the introduction of the book, Mr. Mohammed Salem Echarkaoui highlights that entrusting His Majesty the King with the chairmanship of the Al-Quds Committee is “a profound symbolic honor recognizing the longstanding bond of Moroccans with Jerusalem and Palestine. It also pays tribute to the honorable history of the Moroccan nation, whose presence in the city is still maintained through the preserved testimonies and endowments of its people in Jerusalem and the surrounding villages to this day, making them an integral part of its social fabric for over a thousand years.”
Echarkaoui notes that “the Moroccans of Jerusalem are primarily Palestinians, loyal to the land that has sheltered scholars, pilgrims, students of knowledge, and steadfast individuals. Meanwhile, the Moroccans of the independence era, the Glorious Green March, and the new era remain true to their ancestors’ legacy, committed to the values of genuine and renewed solidarity with our Palestinian brothers.”
The author elaborates that this dedication is exemplified by efforts exerted by His Majesty the King at the head of the Al-Quds Committee, serving as a testament and honor to this sacred trust.
His Majesty is committed to translating this into impactful initiatives at both the political and diplomatic levels, through the esteemed roles of Moroccan diplomacy in supporting the Palestinian cause on all fronts. Furthermore, at the social and field level, His Majesty personally oversees the work of the BMAQ Agency, the executive arm of the Committee.
The author highlights that the Committee’s work is based on a realistic approach that combines two complementary tracks : the political track, which relies on the efforts of Moroccan diplomacy, and the field tarck, through the roles of the BMAQ Agency.
He emphasizes that these two tacks converge to fulfill His Majesty’s genuine desire to enhance the hope of Palestinian generations for a better future. This is achieved through clear and constructive political and legal advocacy, alongside efforts to support and stabilize the population on their land.
