Tangier, August 11, 2024.
Today, Sunday, on the second day of the program, the children of Jerusalem participating in the 15th edition of the summer camp gathered before the “Meeting of the Two Seas” mural in Tangier. They explored the enchanting beauty of the city’s waterfront, crossing it on an open-top bus. Filled with joy, they sang and danced, celebrating the uniqueness of this remarkable journey.
Upon their arrival at the Ashqar area, the children stood by the wall, attentively listening to the explanation provided by the tour guide accompanying them. They gazed intently at the sea, hoping to catch a glimpse of the line where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. Each child let their imagination wander into the horizon, piecing together the image they had woven about Morocco and its geographical location as the westernmost point in the Arab world.
The Jerusalemite child, Iliya Khalil Dabash, from the Othman Ibn Affan School, said, “The atmosphere is beautiful and enjoyable on the route the open-top bus took to the Meeting of the Two Seas.”
Inside the Cave of Hercules, the children’s sense of humidity and freshness evoked the grandeur of the place, where the legend of the great Hercules is etched on its walls. This setting brought to life the magnificence of this land, with its ancient history and enduring civilization.
The child Adam Tiro, from the Ibrahimieh College School in Jerusalem, said that he and his peers learned about the Cave of Hercules and the history of the place. They danced and sang songs within its spaces, expressing his gratitude to “His Majesty King Mohammed VI for this wonderful opportunity.”
