Yaoundé, August 31, 2024
The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency(BMAQ), affiliated with the Al-Quds Committee chaired by HM King Mohammed VI, took part in the 50th session of the OIC’s Council of Foreign Ministers, which wrapped up its proceedings yesterday, Friday, in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon.
Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, the director running BMAQ, highlighted the Al-Quds Committee’s efforts in championing the Palestinian cause.
On this occasion, the Agency distributed a report to the participating delegations outlining its achievements in Al-Quds for the period between the 49th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC, held in Mauritania (March 16-17, 2023), and the 50th session held in Cameroon.
The report noted that the period between the two sessions was marked by ongoing tragedies following the events of October 7, 2023. It particularly highlighted the royal directives issued by HM King Mohammed VI, President of the Al-Quds Committee, to provide assistance to the Palestinians.
The report also emphasized the successful delivery of humanitarian and medical aid by the Kingdom of Morocco through land crossings to Gaza, which also reached Palestinian populations in Al-Quds.
The report reviewed the key programs and projects that the Agency continued to implement in Al-Quds within its mandate. It underscored its social and humanitarian role, highlighting its significant contributions to supporting institutions in Al-Quds in various social fields, thereby aiding them in providing services to the city’s inhabitants.
According to the report, at the beginning of 2024, the Agency launched a series of social support projects in the field of reconstruction. These included a localized restoration program targeting over 100 properties in the Old City and some neighborhoods of Al-Quds.
Additionally, according to the report, the Agency’s plan for this year includes the launch of its 2024-2027 digital strategy, which is divided into five main areas: a youth incubator for Palestinian projects in innovation and renewal, the Bayt Al-Maghrib platform for the preservation and documentation of the tangible and intangible heritage of Al-Quds, a “DLALA” Social and Solidarity Trade Platform , an e-learning platform in partnership with Al-Quds University, and the ‘Hayya’ applications for games and entertainment aimed at children and youth, focusing on the virtues of Al-Quds.
The report stressed that the Agency continues to implement its programmes in the areas of social assistance for groups in need, people with disabilities, human development projects, cultural and social activities, and youth and children’s programmes.
The report concluded that thanks to the direct royal supervision of the Agency’s work, the institution has a strong will to continue to work in the interest of Al-Quds under the slogan ‘With them in Adversity, as well as in Prosperity’, in order to preserve the Holy City and its demographic and legal status.
