Members of PUIC, participating in the 52nd session of the committee meetings hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco, visited the headquarters of the BMAQ Agency in Rabat today, Wednesday.
During their visit to the Agency’s headquarters, the members of the Executive Committee were informed on various aspects of the Agency’s work, which operates under the Al-Quds Committee, chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him.
They were also informed about the Agency’s mandates, capabilities, and the roles it plays in protecting Al-Quds , as well as the initiatives it has undertaken in this regard.
The members of the Executive Committee toured the halls of the permanent exhibition of the Al-Quds Committeeaffiliated with the OIC as well as the photo gallery depicting the Moroccan Cultural Center — Bayt Al-Maghrib in Al-Quds.
In his speech on the occasion, Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, the Director in charge of managing BMAQ , outlined some of the Agency’s achievements over its 25 years of dedication, presence, and perseverance, which have established it as a leading organization in supporting the city and its institutions. He emphasized that the Agency’s approach is grounded in realism and gradual progress, prioritizing actions according to the economic and social conditions of the city of Al-Quds.
In his speech, Echarkaoui also spotlighted several projects undertaken by the Agency in various fields, including human development, social assistance, restoration and reconstruction, education, and support for youth, women, and children. He further highlighted the Agency’s recently launched digital strategy (2024-2027), designed to benefit Palestinian youth from Al-Quds in the areas of innovation and creativity.
Regarding the funding methods for the Agency’s projects, Echarkaoui highlighted that the Agency relies on financial resources from (voluntary) contributions made by member states, organizations, and private individuals, in accordance with its statutes. He further emphasized that the Agency has actively worked to enhance its management practices to meet international quality standards (ISO). Echarkaoui also called on Arab and Islamic countries to offer financial support in any form they deem appropriate to help Palestinians remain resilient on their land”.
Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of the Union of Councils of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom of Morocco, whose monarch chairs the Al-Quds Committee on behalf of all Union members.
