Today in Rabat, the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ) launched the first-ever Al-Quds Hackathon, focused on digital health. This initiative is part of the Agency’s 2024–2027 digital strategy and is organized in collaboration with a range of institutional partners across the Kingdom of Morocco.
Attendees at the launch ceremony included Jamal Al-Shobaki, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Morocco, the Director of the National School of Public Health, the Chairman of the Digital Health Innovation Center, and the President of the Moroccan Association for the Support of Reconstruction in Palestine.
In his speech, Dr. Mohamed Salem Eherkaoui, Director running the BMAQ Agency, stated that the launch of the “Al-Quds Hackathon” competition reflects the renewed and sustained momentum of the Agency’s tangible social initiatives in Al-Quds, carried out under the direct supervision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee.
Echerkaoui announced that BMAQ has devoted the inaugural edition of the Al-Quds Hackathon to digital health, recognizing it as a vital initiative aimed at gathering the greatest number of innovative ideas to advance and strengthen the healthcare system in Al-Quds, with a particular focus on enhancing emergency and urgent care services.
He added that the Agency has allocated a total prize fund of 60,000 USD for the first edition of the Al-Quds Hackathon. He also invited interested participants from Morocco, Palestine, and around the world to join the hackathon and work together to develop innovative digital solutions and practical ideas that can create a tangible, sustainable impact on the health sector, benefiting both the healthcare system and patients, as well as visitors to medical institutions.
The event was attended by representatives from various ministerial and institutional sectors, including the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Delegated Ministry for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Benguerir, the Open University of Dakhla in Morocco, and the Arab Organization for Industrial Development, Standardization, and Mining.
