The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ) is participating in the events of Morocco Week in Chile, which began Thursday at the “La Moneda” Cultural Center in the capital, Santiago. The event, organized by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Chile, runs until December 8, 2024.
The Agency’s participation provides an opportunity to highlight the significant and impactful support extended by the Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, ext to the Palestinian cause.
This coincides with the observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, marked annually on November 29.
The Agency’s pavilion at the exhibition showcases an array of photographs and panels that highlight its diverse social programs and projects. It also features dedicated sections for documents and publications, along with local products supported by the Agency to benefit Palestinian associations and organizations in Jerusalem.
These efforts encompass human development projects, women’s empowerment programs aimed at Jerusalemite women, and community initiatives designed to engage and support the youth of Jerusalem. Furthermore, the pavilion presents a vibrant collection of jewelry, clothing, and textiles, reflecting the Palestinian identity and its rich cultural heritage.
In his speech at the event, Dr. Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, the Director running the BMAQ Agency, emphasized that Moroccans, whose capital hosts the Agency’s headquarters, “consider themselves part of Palestine, with a proud historical presence in Jerusalem through the Moroccan Quarter adjacent to the gate that still bears their name to this day.”
Dr Echarkaoui emphasized Morocco’s continuous endeavors to reinforce its historical presence in Jerusalem, notably through the ownership of a historic property situated in the heart of the Old City along the Via Dolorosa. This property is currently being transformed into a Moroccan Cultural Center, aimed at promoting the Kingdom’s core values of peace, coexistence, and cultural harmony.”
He reaffirmed Morocco’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause through the efforts of the Al-Quds Committee. This commitment is reflected at both political and legal levels, through Moroccan diplomatic initiatives, and on the humanitarian front, through the impactful projects carried out by the BMAQ Agency. These projects encompass a wide range of areas, including healthcare, education, housing, and broader social and human development initiatives.
The Agency’s delegation, headed by Dr. Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, comprises representatives from its offices in Rabat and Jerusalem, accompanied by members of a Palestinian delegation.
The Palestinian participants include Amjad Shehab, professor of higher education and member of the Islamic Supreme Council in Jerusalem, Father Johnny Abi Khalil, guide at the Latin Patriarchate School in Jerusalem; Reverend Imad Haddad, pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amman, and Rania Al-Muhtadi, professor of Spanish literature at Al-Quds University.//
