Laâyoune – January 24, 2025
Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, the director responsible for overseeing the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ), emphasized on Saturday in Laâyoune that Morocco’s dedication to mobilizing its resources in support of the Palestinian cause is a steadfast and principled commitment that “allows no room for political grandstanding.”
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the fourth cohort of the Institute of Journalism and Information Studies, named the “Al-Aqsa Cohort,” Echarkaoui highlighted that this unwavering commitment reflects the deep-rooted pledge of Moroccans to stand by Jerusalem and Palestine, guided by the principle of being “With Them in Adversity as in Times of Prosperity.”
He emphasized that the 50th anniversary of the Green March—Morocco’s historic initiative to reclaim the Moroccan Sahara from colonial rule in November this year—coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Al-Quds Committee under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, symbolizes Morocco’s steadfast dedication to defending this just cause. He added that it also reaffirms the Moroccan people’s enduring commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to the principles of unity, freedom, justice, and peace”.
