Rabat – January 27, 2025
The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ), under the Al-Quds Committee chaired by HM King Mohammed VI, announced today in Rabat its goal to raise $1 million to fund the Ramadan Program in Jerusalem. This announcement was made during the charitable event Laylat Al-Ihssan (Night of Benevolence) , held in conjunction with the significant occasion of Isra and Mi’raj.
The program includes the distribution of 2,000 food baskets, containing 22 essential items sufficient to meet the needs of medium-sized Palestinian families, 30,000 hot meals (an average of 1,000 meals daily), and 200 Eid outfits for orphans supported by BMAQ..
During the event, which featured prominent Moroccan Quran reciters and spiritual vocalists , the Agency also announced the organization of the annual gathering to light the Ramadan Fanous ( lantern) within the walls of Al-Aqsa Mosque on the first day of the holy month. Thousands of residents from Jerusalem’s Old City are expected to attend, alongside nights of religious remembrance, Quran recitation, and spiritual chanting.
On this occasion, Mohammed Salem Echarkaoui, the director in charge of running BMAQ , stated: “The people of Morocco take pride in the enduring legacy of their ancestors in defending Jerusalem and its blessed mosque. They remain steadfast in this commitment, standing at the forefront of advocates for truth, under all circumstances.”
Echarkaoui emphasized that Moroccans, led by HM King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, “spare no effort in providing all forms of support and assistance to Jerusalem and its steadfast residents, as well as to Gaza and its resilient people, and other regions of Palestine, reflecting a principled and unwavering stance that expects no return from anyone.”
He highlighted that BMAQ , operating under the direct supervision of HM King Mohammed VI, is “entrusted with the duty of preserving and enhancing these efforts, while safeguarding the historical legacy of Moroccans in Jerusalem.”
A communication campaign was initiated across electronic and social media platforms to promote donations for the program. This campaign, aligned with the regulations and laws governing the BMAQ Agency, will run throughout the month of Ramadan.
