Gaza, October 9, 2024
Al-Azhar University in Gaza has announced the successful distribution of diplomas to 40 graduates from the King Hassan II Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. This achievement was made possible by a generous donation from the Kingdom of Morocco, offering vital support at a time when Gaza continues to face the severe challenges of ongoing Israeli aggression.
This grant builds on the earlier support provided by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency (BMAQ), which has funded the enrollment of 300 students from the College on the e-learning platform since last June.
Hasib Abdullah Al-Yazuri, a graduate of the College, expressed his deep gratitude to the Kingdom of Morocco for the support it has offered in fostering education and learning. He remarked, “From the depths of hardship, the light of hope shines in the hearts of Gaza’s students, giving them the opportunity to continue their journey and look forward to a brighter future when the darkness finally lifts.”
Graduate student Nour Fayyaz Suleiman shared her appreciation, stating, “Thanks to this Moroccan assistance, I was able to receive my diploma, and now I can begin searching for a job in my field, whether in Gaza or abroad.”
Khalil Abu Fool, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, a higher education institution founded in 1991 and home to 12 faculties, expressed his gratitude by saying, “On behalf of the students of King Hassan II College and the entire Al-Azhar University community in Gaza, we extend our renewed thanks to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect and guide him, and to the Moroccan people for their generous support, which strengthens the historical ties between Morocco and Palestine, connecting their past with the present.”
He emphasized that the Moroccan grant “brought joy to the hearts of the students who benefited from it, allowing them to experience a sense of hope amidst the overwhelming hardships that surround them on all sides.”
It is noteworthy that last August, the BMAQ Agency provided Al-Azhar University with cloud servers and a comprehensive remote learning platform. This initiative is part of Morocco’s ongoing support, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, in aiding the Palestinian people in Gaza.
This Moroccan support aligns with the broader efforts of the Palestinian educational system to ensure the success of the 2024-2025 academic year in the Gaza Strip. The initiative underscores the need for innovative and sustainable solutions to revive the education sector, which, like many others, has been severely impacted and paralyzed by the ongoing aggression in the region.
