Casablanca, October 30, 2024
Supported by Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ) , three Palestinian startups are participating the International Digital Health Forum, kicking off today, Wednesday, in Casablanca.
Held under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this forum is organized by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health in collaboration with the Center for Innovation in E-Health at Mohammed V University in Rabat, and in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection. It is themed “Digital Health: Toward Quality Health Services for All.”
Mohammed Salem Echarkaoui, the acting director running the BMAQ Agency, emphasized that the participation of these Palestinian startups aligns with the Agency’s commitment to supporting technological advancement through an ambitious 2024-2027 digital strategy . This includes a project incubator aimed at supporting Palestinian youth and fostering innovation across diverse technology fields.
Mr. Echarkaoui further explained that the Agency set up a dedicated pavilion for these startups within the forum’s space to showcase their innovations to interested stakeholders and partners, underscoring their role in enhancing healthcare quality through digital technology.
He noted that BMAQ selected these three Palestinian startups through a rigorous screening process led by experts within the Agency’s project incubator.
The first selected startup, “Line of Sight,” was chosen for its advanced imaging technology that accurately captures dental implant sites, making it particularly suited for full jaw rehabilitation. This startup employs AI and specially coded markers to provide cutting-edge solutions in dental implantology
The third startup, “Healers,” is pioneering a new technique for opening and closing the sternum, aiming to address challenges associated with traditional bone-sawing methods that can lead to significant complications, such as intense pain and a high risk of infection.
“Healers” employs an innovative cutting device and custom design to accelerate recovery, reduce pain, and eliminate the need for metal wires.
It is worth noting that through the “BMAQ Innovation Hub,” the Agency provides these companies a comprehensive support program, featuring 190 hours of interactive classes and workshops over five months. This initiative aims to strengthen entrepreneurial skills and build effective project marketing strategies.
The International Digital Health Forum offers a valuable opportunity for these startups to showcase their technical capabilities and explore potential collaborations with local and international partners in the health sector.
This participation underscores BMAQ’s dedication to empowering Palestinian youth by opening access to global markets and providing international platforms, such as forums and exhibitions, where they can present their products and attract investment opportunities—contributing to a promising digital future for economic and social development in Jerusalem.
