Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, the director running the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ), affirmed that the 40th ministerial session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC-OIC), which commenced today in Istanbul, serves as a valuable platform to present BMAQ’s economic report.
In a statement to MAP, Mr. Echarkaoui explained that this gathering offers an opportunity to present BMAQ’s activity report , the executive arm of the Al-Quds Committee chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, particularly in areas related to trade and the economy.
He noted that such events provide an opportunity to highlight “the alarming socio-economic challenges facing the city of Al-Quds amidst a backdrop of security instability.”
In this regard , he highlighted the Agency’s launch of “DLaLa,” a socially-driven e-commerce platform designed to support merchants, social institutions, and associations in Al-Quds by helping them promote their products online.
Mr. Echarkaoui further elaborated on the digital strategy launched by the Agency last May, set for the 2024-2027 period, under the slogan: “Digital Development in the Service of Economic and Social Development in Al-Quds.”
The director of the Agency outlined the axes of this strategy, which include the Documentation and Archives Platform Bayt Al Maghrib (House of Morocco) to protect the cultural heritage of the city, a project incubator for renewal and innovation, an electronic mental health clinic, and a distance learning platform, as well as applications (Hayya) for children and teenagers , animations, and educational content on the virtues of Al-Quds.
He also mentioned the Al-Quds Digital Health Hackathon 2024, which was launched last weekend in Rabat, with the participation of Palestinian startups active in this field.
