The Mufti of Tanzania, Cheik Aboubakr Zoubeir Mbwana, praised on Sunday the initiatives taken by King Mohammed VI of Morocco in support of the Islamic Ummah causes, particularly the cause of Al Quds and bringing assistance to the Palestinians.
The Mufti of Tanzania who gave the fifth lecture of the Ramadan Hassanya lectures series at the Royal Palace in Casablanca reviewed a series of initiatives taken by the Commander of the Faithful in order to correct the image of Islam in the international community.
In his lecture titled “The symbolism of the Commandery of the Faithful and its presence in the religious thought of the Ulema of East Africa: Tanzania as an example”, the Mufti highlighted the care granted by King Mohammed VI grants to Bayt Mal Al Quds Agency that extends assistance to the Palestinian population in the holy city.
He also underscored the initiative taken by the Sovereign to create the Mohammed VI center for inter-civilization dialogue in Chile, in 2004, as a bridge of civilizational dialogue between Morocco and Latin America.
Bayt Mal Al Quds Agency, an offshoot of Al Quds Committee, which is an organ of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, is marking throughout 2003 its silver jubilee which commemorates 25 years of effective action under the aegis of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Since it was founded in 1998, the Agency has conducted 65 million dollars-worth of actions, encompassing 200 projects in the sectors of housing, rehabilitation, real estate acquisition, health, education, agriculture, trade, supporting the local economy, information, culture, publication, youth, sport, childhood, supporting human development and empowerment, social assistance (orphans, widows, elderly population and persons in a situation of handicap).
