As part of the celebrations marking the silver jubilee of Bayt Mal Al Quds Asharif Agency, held under the chairmanship of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, chairman of Al Quds Committee, the Agency organized on Tuesday April 18, 2023, the “Al Quds open doors” initiative. The Agency will be open for students, institutions, associations and all interested persons in Morocco to visit the exhibitions held at the Agency head offices in Hay Riad in Rabat.
The first of these visits was undertaken by students from the Badr private education institution, teenagers from Amal association in Sale who toured the permanent exhibition of Palestinian arts and culture and the “Poetry in the colors of Al Quds : Poetic drama by the brushes of plastic artists”, held at the Agency head office as part of the thematic plastic arts, sculpture and photography exhibitions organized on a regular basis.
“The Agency has reached out to some institutions in the capital city of Rabat requesting them to include the Agency as a destination, owing to the image it presents to the public of the Moroccan singular model of tolerance, dialogue and co-existence and its contribution in supporting the “Rabat, city of lights, capital of African culture and capital of culture in the Islamic world” project, a release published by the Agency on this occasion said.
The release also notes that the Agency endeavors, as part of its competence to establish a link between Rabat and Al Quds and take stock of the Moroccan presence in Al Quds to consolidate its civilizational status and preserve its federating values, as a city that unites and hosts all the followers of the three monotheist religions, in accordance with the spirit and the objectives of “Al Quds call”, signed by the Commander of the Faithful, His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco, chairman of Al Quds Committee, and His Holiness Pope Francis in Rabat on March 30, 2019.
His Majesty King Mohamed VI “has been ceaselessly affirming the Moroccan steadfast support to the Palestinian cause and has been orienting the Moroccan diplomacy to back the Palestinian position at the political and legal levels in various international forums. His Majesty the King also instructs Bayt Mal Al Quds Asharif to carry on its field action and carry out concrete social and economic projects that yield direct impact on the population, in the sectors of education, health, housing, culture, arts, youth and sports”, the release goes on.
It also underlines that the Agency “grants a special importance to empowerment projects meant to unleash the potential of women, young people and children from Al Quds, human development projects seeking to support the economic fabric that was hardly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic effects and the inflation crisis entailed by the Russia-Ukrainian crisis and carries out social entertainment projects as well as social assistance projects to support needy families during the month of Ramadan and other religious holidays”.
According to the release, “Al Quds open doors” event “brings a special dimension to the Silver Jubilee celebrations, marking 25 years of action at the initiative of the late King Hassan II. It is an opportunity to assess past landmark accomplishments that exceeded 200 major projects worth 64 million UD Dollars, in addition to scores of small and medium-sized initiatives and projects completed during this period”
The release points out that the Agency “is hopeful that it will succeed in overcoming some constraints hampering the fulfillment of its ambitions, mainly those associated with funding, a central issue that the Agency is endeavoring to resolve by adopting innovating mechanisms to diversify funding sources, including by opening the door for internet donations and tapping on Arab and Islamic communities in Europe and America”.
During their visit, the two groups toured the library specialized in the history of Al Quds and Palestine, watched short documentaries on the third edition of the international children summit simulation for Al Quds and the summer camps for children from Al Quds and exchanged memorial shields.
The visitors lauded the Agency’s continuous efforts at the service of the holy city and demonstrated their solidarity by purchasing some of the Palestinian items displayed at the Agency head office.
