Rabat – The director in charge of the management of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui called, Friday in Rabat, for contribution to fund the Agency’s social projects in the holy city.
Speaking at the “Charity Night”, an event held at the Agency’s headquarters, Cherkaoui said that the issue of funding is at the top of the challenges that prevent the achievement of the Agency’s goals, given the limited financial resources and the cessation by member countries of funding for this institution since 2011.
This situation requires the Agency to find mechanisms and ways to diversify its sources of funding, in accordance with its statutes and the decisions and recommendations issued by the Islamic summits of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the decisions of the Al-Quds Committee, he added.
This event is a charity evening open to Moroccan businessmen, individuals and institutions, to mobilize for the financing of the Agency’s programs and projects during the holy month of Ramadan, he argued.
In this sense, he announced the creation of the Forum for voluntary support to the programs of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency which will be composed of Moroccan individuals, businessmen and private institutions, in accordance with the decisions of the 9th OIC Summit, held in Doha on November 12-13, 2000, and the decisions of the first Board of Directors of the Agency held in Marrakech on 14 February 2000.
According to Charkaoui, this body will be in charge of helping the Agency to mobilize funding for its programs and projects in Al-Quds, to publicize the Agency and its achievements and to make it benefit from the knowledge networks and experiences of its members, individuals and institutions, in the fields of advocacy and technical support to humanitarian and development projects.
