The acting director of Bayt Mal Al Quds Asharif Agency, Dr. Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, underlined on Tuesday in Rabat that the documentary “Morocco in Palestinian eyes” tells the story of “the historical bonds linking the two brother peoples and the enshrinement of the Moroccan presence in the holy city for one thousand years or more, with evidence and proofs and with continuous action, in a way that unveils the myths woven here and there about fake heroism and claimed history”.
Speaking during the documentary premiere, held in the presence of the ambassador of the Palestinian state, Moroccan officials, representatives of various Moroccan social groups, Echarkaoui noted that the Agency staff members, both Moroccans and Palestinians, are “pieces of evidence, as part of the Agency’s prerogatives, to the Agency’s actions in favor of Al Quds and its inhabitants, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, chairman of Al Quds Committee”.
“This is a considerable effort on which to build upon and that constitute with the efforts of other Arab and Islamic sister countries a window from which the Palestinian generations can look at the future”.
On his part, Palestine’s ambassador in Morocco, Jamal Chouiki, expressed gratitude for the documentary, underscoring that this movie reflects the strength of the Moroccan-Palestinian deep bonds throughout history. He also underlined the support extended by the King and people of Morocco to the Palestinian cause and noted that “the largest community backing the Palestinian cause abroad is the Moroccan community, together with other Arabs and Muslims”.
Moroccans are always on top of persons who are enthusiastic in all events related to Palestine in various countries, whether in Europe or in the other continents, he added.
The documentary, to which the Council of the Moroccan community abroad contributed together with Bayt Mal Al Quds Asharif Agency and the national library of the Kingdom of Morocco, traces the Moroccan presence in Al Quds and in Palestine, in general. This presence is deeply rooted in history dating back to the participation with the conqueror Salah Eddine Al Ayoubi in the liberation of Al Quds from the crusaders.
Through interviews with Palestinian and Moroccan figures, the documentary underscores documented data on the Moroccans’ presence in the heart of Al Quds and in Palestine, the positions of Morocco and its leadership toward the Palestinian cause, shedding light on the daily and concrete action conducted by Bayt Mal Al Quds Asharif Agency.
