The Kingdom of Morocco affirmed, in its pleadings during public hearings at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, that His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as the chairperson of the Al-Quds Committee, is committed to protecting the legal, historical, political, and spiritual status of Al-Quds /Jerusalem.
The pleading, submitted in a request for an advisory opinion regarding the legal implications of Israeli policies and practices in the Occupied Palestinian territories, recalled the ” Al-Quds / Jerusalem Appeal” signed by His Majesty the King with His Holiness Pope Francis.
This document emphasizes the importance of preserving the Holy City as a common human heritage and respecting the freedom of access to places of worship for the followers of the three monotheistic religions.
The pleading also highlighted His Majesty’s unwavering commitment to preserving the deep historical identity of Al-Quds /Jerusalem as a land of coexistence among the divine religions.
It also emphasized the ongoing defense of the special status of the Holy City, respecting the religious rituals of the followers of the three heavenly religions, and safeguarding the Islamic character of the sacred City and the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
