On Tuesday, an academic and student delegation from Duke University in the United States visited the headquarters of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency in Rabat. Accompanied by university professors, they are spending a week in the Kingdom of Morocco as part of a research trip to study the literature, culture, and issues of the Arab region, which also includes a visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The students and their professors were introduced to the institution, which is affiliated with the Al-Quds Committee chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI. They gained insights into its specialties and capabilities, as well as its roles in protecting Jerusalem and preserving its cultural heritage.
The delegation delved into the Agency’s extensive social and humanitarian endeavors in Jerusalem, spanning human development initiatives, social welfare programs, as well as restoration and reconstruction projects. They gained insights into the Agency’s multifaceted efforts in education, youth empowerment, women’s rights, and childcare. Furthermore, they received a comprehensive briefing on the Agency’s newly introduced digital strategy tailored to empower Palestinian youth in Jerusalem, with a keen focus on innovation.
On another note, a presentation was given about the Moroccan Cultural Center – Bayt Al-Maghreb in Jerusalem, where various cultural and civilizational narratives intertwine, radiating principles of tolerance, peace, and coexistence from its very core. Nestled within the old city of Jerusalem, it serves as a beacon of unity amidst diverse cultural expressions..
The American delegation is comprised of 7 distinguished students, overseen by both Bruce Lawrense, Head of the Department of Religion at the university, along with Miriam Cooke, specializing in Middle Eastern and Arab world studies, and Imbay Lo Bashir, Professor of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies and Comparative Religion.
