Marrakech, 11July 2024
Today, Thursday, at the opening of the Second Edition of the “Marrakech Economic Parliamentary Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean Region and Gulf”, the “Humanitarian Excellence Award” from the Mediterranean Parliament was presented to the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, the executive arm of the Al-Quds Committee, chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
At the Forum’s opening, hosted by the Red City over two days, the award was received by Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, the director in charge of the current affairs management of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency.
This recognition acknowledges the invaluable services and significant efforts of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency in tangible humanitarian, social and fieldwork, which aligns with the political and legal trajectory of the Palestinian cause. Moroccan diplomacy, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, plays a pioneering and humanitarian role recognized for its steadfastness and noble endeavors.
This recognition also serves as a tribute to the contributions of the Kingdom of Morocco, under the wise leadership of His Majesty the King, in building bridges of understanding between the peoples of the Euro-Mediterranean region and promoting values of mutual respect, coexistence, cooperation, and solidarity.
On this occasion, a video was shown introducing the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency and its activities aimed at preserving the religious and cultural heritage of Al-Quds Asharif (Jerusalem) and maintaining its legal status. The video highlighted the efforts made by the Agency over the past 25 years, since its actual inception, during which it has completed numerous social projects, particularly in the sectors of health, education, housing, culture, youth, and sports, and has supported the most needy segments of the city’s population.
The director in charge of the current affairs management of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency stated that this award “symbolizes a profound tribute that celebrates the efforts of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, who directs the Agency’s work to implement tangible projects that have a direct impact on the lives of the population across all sectors of social assistance.”
Mr. Echarkaoui added that this honor “motivates the Agency to further contribute and work towards implementing the noble directives of His Majesty the King, who guides the work of the Al-Quds Committee along two paths: a political path where Moroccan diplomacy plays a significant role, and a social field path where the Agency continues its work with the resources available.”
It is worth noting that the “Excellence Award” was presented to the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency on the sidelines of the 18th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean which took place last May in Braga, Portugal.
The Marrakech Economic Parliamentary Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean Region and Gulf represents a valuable opportunity for parliamentarians and founding partners of the Mediterranean Parliament “to interact with political and economic actors from both the public and private sectors, as well as with academia and civil society.”
