As part of the Kingdom of Morocco’s support, and under the directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ) delivered Cloud Infrastructure and an integrated Learning Management System to the administration of Al-Azhar University today in Cairo.
The event was attended by the Chairman and members of the Board of Trustees, the university president, and representatives of the faculty and students currently in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
This Moroccan support is part of the broader efforts by the Palestinian educational system to prepare for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year in Gaza. It includes implementing innovative and sustainable solutions to revitalize the education sector, which, like other sectors, is facing severe disruption due to the ongoing aggression in the region.
Moroccan experts, along with their international partners, demonstrated the features of the new management system and cloud infrastructure—customized to meet the university’s needs—to Al-Azhar University’s software and network engineers in person in Cairo.
A training workshop was conducted, focusing particularly on how to transfer information to the new system and maintain its security.
The training workshop, which also included engineers and software specialists from Gaza participating through remote video conferencing, concentrated on acquainting participants with advanced, high-quality technologies designed for the sustainable and secure management of infrastructure. This ensures effective data preservation and offers the pedagogical tools necessary for conducting lessons and exams.
The university administration expects that more than 18,000 students, distributed across 12 colleges and the intermediate college, will benefit from the platform.
It is anticipated that final-year students in specialized university programs will be able to further their studies abroad as visiting students through student exchange agreements.
It is noteworthy that Al-Azhar University houses the King Hassan II Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences in Gaza, which was rebuilt with private funds from His Majesty King Mohammed VI after the 2009 aggression. Regrettably, this faculty has been destroyed once again amid the current aggression in the region.
