Members of the Board of Trustees of Al-Azhar University in Gaza praised, on Tuesday in Cairo, the support of His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the Gaza Strip during the current crisis.
At the conclusion of the workshop on the use of Cloud Infrastructure and the Learning Management System, which was delivered to the university’s administration by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency (BMAQ) on Monday, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Khalil Abou Foul , said: “The Kingdom of Morocco, under the directives of His Majesty the King, was among the first to aid Palestinians with significant humanitarian and medical assistance, delivered to Gaza in three batches via land crossings.”
Abou Foul highlighted that Morocco’s support for Gaza’s education system—such as covering registration fees for over 300 students at King Hassan II Faculty and processing graduation certificates for 46 others—demonstrates a profound appreciation from this fraternal nation for the sector’s role in societal reconstruction. This investment in the student generations not only fosters hope for the future but also helps build societal resilience amidst ongoing challenges and hardships.
For his part, Dr. Omar Milad, President of Al-Azhar University, expressed deep appreciation for the Kingdom of Morocco’s commendable support for the Palestinian cause. He emphasized that this support reflects the country’s genuine character and generous spirit.
Mr. Milad recalled the royal grant for financing the reconstruction of the King Hassan II Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences in Gaza, after it was destroyed during the 2009 aggression, only to be demolished once again in the ongoing assault on the Gaza Strip.
Nafid Al-Bassous, a member of the Board of Trustees and the University’s Legal Committee, affirmed his belief that the Kingdom of Morocco stands at the forefront of nations supporting the Palestinian cause. He highlighted the numerous progressive positions taken by His Majesty the King on various occasions and platforms.
Al-Bassous emphasized that Palestinians hold profound respect for Morocco—its King, government, and people—due to the significant support extended to the Gaza Strip and Jerusalem through the BMAQ Agency, which operates under the patronage of His Majesty the King.
It is worth mentioning that BMAQ organized a training workshop in Cairo on August 5 and 6 for software and platform engineers from Al-Azhar University in Gaza. The workshop focused on operating cloud servers and the distance learning platform and was conducted by Moroccan experts and their foreign partners. Following the workshop, the keys for operation were handed over to the university’s administration in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and its members.
