The 20th Session of the Al-Quds Committee
January 17th -18th, 2014, Marrakech
The Twentieth Session of the Al-Quds Committee, held on January 17th -18th, 2014 in Marrakech under the presidency of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and in the presence of the Head of State of Palestine, Mr. Mahmoud Abbas, provided a new opportunity to highlight the effectiveness of royal diplomacy aimed at defending the holy city of Al-Quds.
This royal diplomacy, founded on a cohesive and intentional approach to serve the city of Al-Quds and its inhabitants, was commended by the Committee Members and representatives of the most influential members in the international community, notably the United Nations and the five permanent members of the Security Council, who participated in the Committee’s session in Marrakech.
During both the opening and closing sessions of this historic meeting, His Majesty the King delivered a powerful message against Israeli settlement policies and repeated attempts by the authorities to alter the status of the Holy City. His Majesty also announced a roadmap that garnered consensus among Islamic States, the United Nations, and major powers involved in the peace process to steer it back on track through practical recommendations.
The concluding statement of the Twentieth Session of the Al-Quds Committee, ratified through a consensual approach, served as evidence of the engagement of the Committee members in the principles, steps, and vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Additionally, the statement praised the efforts exerted by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, in protecting the Islamic and Christian holy sites in the Holy City.Thus, acknowledging his noble stances and continuous endeavor to defend the -AlQuds and its sanctities.

The Marrakech Session also introduced a new proposition to transform the Al-Quds Committee into a tool for political action, coupled with tangible projects on the ground. Overall, this Session provided a platform for sustainable engagement.
The concluding statement of the Twentieth Session of the Al-Quds Committee emphasized the Islamic nation’s expectation for the international community to fully assume its responsibility in “saving Al-Quds (Jerusalem) and preserving its human and global cultural heritage, protecting its educational, demographic, and cultural status, and exerting pressure on Israel to cease all colonial practices intended to alter the legal status of the Holy City.
His Majesty the King noted that achieving this goal remains contingent upon the unity of the Islamic nation and effective joint action, coupled with the highest levels of solidarity and commitment against Israeli maneuvers ,which aim at Judaizing the Holy City and altering its historical, cultural, and human identity.
And in this regard, His Majesty stated that ‘This is what we strive to confirm as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee; and in fulfillment of our commitment to our Palestinian brothers, and to their legitimate national authority, under the leadership of brother Abu Mazen, we shall continue our efforts to support their resilience and to advance the peace process, the essence of which is a fair resolution to the issue of the holy city of Al-Quds.’
