Our story

The beginning

Rabat, Morocco — 1975. On the initiative of the late King Hassan II, the Al-Quds Committee was established, bringing together 16 member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to protect the Holy City and preserve its religious and cultural heritage.

Twenty years later, in early 1995, the leaders of the Committee's member states decided, on a proposal by the late King Hassan II, to create the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency as the executive arm of the Committee; the Agency was established in 1998 and began its work, turning the vision into concrete projects on the ground.

More than a quarter of a century later, the Agency has grown into a leading international institution serving Al-Quds, with projects exceeding 56 million dollars across education, health, youth, housing and heritage.

Today, with its headquarters in Rabat and offices in Al-Quds, Ramallah and Casablanca, the Agency continues its fieldwork under the direct supervision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee.
