The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency believes that serving Al-Quds and its people includes protecting their environment and resources. This charter sets out the principles guiding the Agency's work and projects environmentally, and is a reference for its teams and partners.
2. Principles
- Integrate the environmental dimension into the design, delivery and evaluation of projects.
- Use energy, water and paper responsibly in the Agency's premises and offices.
- Reduce waste and recycle wherever possible.
- Favour local, sustainable solutions and materials in restoration and construction projects.
- Raise environmental awareness in programs aimed at young people.
3. In projects
Environmental impacts are assessed before projects are approved; priority goes to initiatives that preserve the historic urban fabric of Al-Quds and reduce the carbon footprint, such as renewable energy and better energy efficiency in facilities.
4. In governance
The Agency relies on an environmental management system based on the ISO 14001 standard, with monitoring indicators and periodic review, and involves its staff and partners in meeting the charter's objectives.
5. Continuous improvement
This charter is reviewed periodically in light of results and developments; the Agency commits to continually improving its environmental performance and reporting on it transparently.
