Al-Quds - The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, affiliated with the Al-Quds Committee, chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, has continued its support for Palestinian farmers on the occasion of the olive harvest season, as part of the "Awna 2026" campaign, launched on 6 October this month for the benefit of around 2250 farmers, spread across 20 localities in the Al-Quds Governorate, including 16 agricultural gates.
On Thursday, the Agency's teams, alongside the Al-Quds Governorate and a number of Palestinian institutions, took part in olive harvesting operations in the town of Beit Anan, northwest of Al-Quds, in accordance with the Agency's working methodology and in implementation of the High Royal Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which call for the Agency to continue implementing projects with a tangible impact on the Palestinian population in all its categories.
The campaign provides agricultural supplies and tools, including harvesting equipment, olive rakes and ladders, to help farmers speed up the harvest and preserve their crops, in light of the difficulties they face in accessing their land and the repeated attacks targeting them and their property.
The coordinator of the "Awna" campaign in the Al-Quds Governorate, Tahani Al-Louzi, said that Beit Anan was chosen to host the central event because it has been subjected to repeated attacks by colonists, given the presence of a settlement outpost in its vicinity and the targeting of farmers and their land.
She added that Beit Anan, Mikhmas, Beit Iksa, Nabi Samwil and Jaba' are among the five localities most exposed to colonist attacks in the Al-Quds Governorate, stressing the importance of national institutions and partners joining forces to support farmers and preserve their crops, which are their source of livelihood.
Ms. Al-Louzi commended the support of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency through the provision of harvesting equipment, olive rakes and ladders, noting that the Agency has been providing this support for the seventh consecutive year, helping farmers speed up the harvest and protect the crop from attacks and theft.
She pointed out that the Palestinian olive tree shares a common symbolism with the Moroccan olive tree, reflecting the depth of the relationship between Morocco and Al-Quds, the eternal capital of the State of Palestine.
For his part, farmer Fayez Hammad Abu Al-Tin, from the town of Beit Anan, said that the "Awna" campaign contributes to supporting farmers during the olive harvest season and embodies the national institutions' stand alongside them, affirming that Palestinians are the owners of the land and will remain on it as long as the fig trees, thyme and olive trees stand, despite colonist attacks and the occupation's attempts to restrict them.
Mr. Abu Al-Tin extended his thanks to the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, the Al-Quds Governorate, the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, the security services, national institutions and bodies, and all those who contributed to supporting the campaign and assisting farmers during the harvest season.
For his part, the Mayor of Beit Anan, Mohammad Rabie, affirmed that the olive tree represents a symbol of the Palestinian people and their attachment to their land, and that the "Awna" campaign reflects the solidarity of national institutions and stakeholders and their stand alongside farmers in the face of the attacks targeting them and their land.
Mr. Rabie commended the efforts of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, the Al-Quds Governorate and the ministries, services and institutions participating in the campaign, stressing the importance of unifying efforts to support farmers and strengthen their steadfastness.
For his part, Father Abdallah Julio expressed his appreciation for the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency and its role in supporting Al-Quds and its people, recalling his one-year stay in the Old City of Al-Quds and the knowledge it gave him of the importance of the Agency's work.
He affirmed that the presence of the participants at the event reaffirms that Al-Quds belongs to its people, expressing his confidence that the difficult conditions experienced by Palestinians will come to an end and that hope for achieving freedom and peace will endure.
Occupation forces had stormed the site where farmers, national stakeholders and forces, and representatives of the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission and the Al-Quds Governorate had gathered to support the farmers of Beit Anan during the olive harvest season, in an attempt to intimidate them and warn them against approaching a settlement outpost set up by a colonist on the town's land.
